Task 4 P.1


TASK 4: MAGAZINE FRONT COVER ANALYSIS: Look at at least five front covers/  from current affairs magazines for your given target market. Embed the videos in a blog post and use the conventions you identified to comment on:


  1. the range of photos used
  2. types of font
  3. settings used
  4. colours
  5. types of characters represented, including range of social groups (women, men, different ethnicities, ages, class)
  6. masthead
  7. other page furniture such as logos, bar code, price
  8. how they showcase the cover model
  9. what sort of lifestyle they promote
  10. how they appeal to the audience

     The layout of the website is clean and uncluttered, with a plan white background. Synergy is created immediately with the masthead matching that of the magazine and in the same font,  all capitals and the same shade of red. On the left corner of the masthead is a menu icon with the word 'menu' underneath for clarity.     Dear Moderator, my name is Francesca Western – Kaye Candidate No.1925, and welcome to my A Level Media Studies blog. This is a record of the work I have undertaken for the Making Media (Component 03/04) non-examined assessment (NEA) within the OCR H409 GCE A Level course in Media Studies.
