Dear Moderator, my name is Francesca Western – Kaye Candidate No.1925, and welcome to my A Level Media Studies blog. This is a record of the work I have undertaken for the Making Media (Component 03/04) non-examined assessment (NEA) within the OCR H409 GCE A Level course in Media Studies. I worked independently on Brief 3: magazine and online to produce one front cover and the contents page(s) of the first two editions of a new current affairs magazine that is being launched by Dennis and two pages for the working website for the magazine. TASK 3: CONVENTIONS: Research the key conventions of current affairs magazines. Consider the design, layout, types of articles. You could use the Big Issue Powerpoint and the Big Issue Cover Guide to help you pick out key conventions. like the big issue did the week and the econimist The Week Image: Consists of illustations of normally a few people behaving abnormally. The person or thing on the front cover is the main focus of the page. The text speaks to the image but sometimes does intrude on it, it helps add contect. No matteer who the person or thing is, the image is bold, striking and attention grabbing. The illistration is well lit, the background is either plain or uncluttered, with the focus around the main image. The image on the cover can really sell the issue so getting a sense of that person's personality or the way they are being portrayed. The most important aspect of this cover style is to help engage the readers with the a glance. Illustration
